ISMAR will support the Italian-French International Conference on Magnetic Resonance, jointly organized by the Italian (GIDRM) and French (GERM) Magnetic Resonance Societies. The conference will take place 27-30 September 2022 in Milan (Italy) and will bring together ~250 experts from different fields of magnetic resonance and electron paramagnetic resonance, using solution and solid state spectroscopy as well as imaging and relaxometry techniques.

The organisers are willing to foster participation of young colleagues (PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, young researchers) through the award of a limited number of attendance grants and low-priced rooms.

Further information (registration and abstract submission procedure, programme of the conference, list of invited speakers, how to apply for attendance grants, how to reach Milan, etc) can be found on the conference website:

ISMAR-sponsored: 61st Rocky Mountain Conference on Magnetic Resonance – Solid-State NMR Symposium

Start date: July 25, 2022
End date: July 29, 2022
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Sponsored Events

conference dates: July 25-29, 2022
conference location: Copper Mountain, Colorado

The Rocky Mountain conference started as a meeting on Analytical chemistry involving SSNMR, EPR and analytical techniques. In 2010 the meeting was focused solely on Magnetic Resonance and included SSNMR and EPR sessions, where SSNMR meetings take place once in two years, alternating with the Alpine European meeting. It is the largest SSNMR meeting in North America and attracts researches involving both theory, methods and applications. The meeting supports special prizes: The Laura Marinelli Award (http://www.rockychem.com/honors/laura-marinelli-award.html) for an excellent poster presentation by a student/post-doc, and the Vaughan Lecturer (http://www.rockychem.com/honors/vaughan-lecturer.html), which is awarded to a leading scientist in the field of SSNMR. The identity of the winner is only exposed in the meeting, and past recipients include many leading scientist in the field. A session is dedicated to the Vaughan lecturer, who gets to select several speakers. The meeting also awards travel stipends for students in order to encourage their participation.

ISMAR-sponsored: EMBO practical course on Structure, Dynamics and Function of Biological Macromolecules by NMR

Start date: August 5, 2022
End date: August 12, 2022
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Sponsored Events

conference dates: August 5-12, 2022
Biozentrum Basel, Switzerland

The intention of the course is to provide practical training in important aspects of structural and dynamical analysis by NMR. The emphasis will be on setting up experiments on the spectrometer (optimizing parameters, pulse programs), on processing and analyzing the NMR data and on structure calculations in a hands-on fashion. It is impossible to also teach all the necessary theoretical background of modern NMR experiments in a few days. Therefore, the course is aimed at PhD students and postdocs who have some working knowledge of NMR theory, i.e. product operator formalism, and who understand the basic principles of NMR pulse sequences. Possible candidates should have the knowledge of NMR theory at the level of the book 'Protein NMR Spectroscopy' by Cavanagh et al. or similar.

Topics:

  • Pulse sequences for assignment and structural information: theory, practical set-up and use
  • Multidimensional data processing
  • Resonance assignment
  • Relaxation: theory, experiments, data analysis
  • Residual dipolar couplings: theory, experiments, data analysis
  • Paramagnetic NMR: theory, experiments, data analysis
  • In-cell NMR
  • Structure calculation and evaluation
