MRI: Clinical Updates and Practical Physics

MRI: Clinical Updates and Practical Physics is a 4-day course for practicing Radiologists and Magnetic Resonance technologists. The course will focus on new strategies to correctly interpret common MRI exams, recognize image quality issues, and execute strategies to correct them. In addition, this course will review the underlying principles of MR physics and image protocol decisions with colleagues to improve team efficiency.

We invite you to encourage your students, postdocs, and senior associates to attend the 7th Winter School on Biomolecular Solid-State NMR, which will be held on January 7-12, 2024, in Stowe, Vermont. As were the previous successful Winter Schools, this pedagogical meeting is aimed at students and postdocs in solid-state NMR as well as more senior scientists in related fields who are interested in entering this vibrant field. We will provide week-long on instruction focused on the core concepts and techniques of the increasingly complex and multifaceted field of biological solid-state NMR spectroscopy, and provide opportunities for interactions and information sharing among different laboratories. Topics to be covered in the 7th Winter School include:
- Basics of solid-state NMR: orientation-dependent NMR frequencies, MAS, tensors and rotations, density operator and its time evolution, decoupling and recoupling techniques, and average Hamiltonian theory
- Multidimensional correlation spectroscopy, non-uniform sampling, techniques for resonance assignment and measurement of structural restraints in biomolecules
- Paramagnetic solid-state NMR techniques
- Techniques for enhancing sensitivity of solid-state NMR: dynamic nuclear polarization and 1H detection
- Solid-state NMR techniques for measuring molecular motion
- Solid-state NMR techniques for structural studies of oriented membrane proteins
- Solid-state NMR spectra simulations in SPINEVOLUTION
- Beyond spin 1/2: NMR of quadrupolar nuclei
- Basics of NMR probe design
In addition to lectures, problem sets and discussion sessions will be given at the meeting.

Venue and transportation: The meeting will be held at the beautiful and historical Trapp Family Lodgehttp://www.trappfamily.com/ in Stowe, Vermont. Stowe is accessible from airports in Burlington, VT, Manchester, NH, and Boston, MA. A block of rooms has been reserved at the lodge. We anticipate space for ~70 attendees.
Cost: Room and board will be free for attendees. The registration fee is $1150 for academic attendees and $1350 for industrial attendees.

The Young Investigators in Magnetic Resonances (YIMRs) workshop is a scientific event organized by early-career researchers for their peers. The event aims at facilitating the exchange of scientific knowledge and expertise between PhDs, postdocs, and early-career researchers and at building a network between future generations of researchers in this field.
The workshop will be hosted at the University of Konstanz on 21-22 September 2023. To encourage the scientific exchange, all participants are invited to submit an abstract either for poster or oral presentation. Both the poster sessions and the talks will be moderated to facilitate the scientific exchange between attendees with different backgrounds.
We invite PhD students, Postdoctoral researchers and early/career group leaders from all over the world.

Social media platforms have brought down the physical barriers to scientific discussion. While traditional conferences still provide wonderful opportunities for reunion and debate, few conferences truly engage a global audience. That’s where we come in.
Following last year’s success, on July 19-21, 2023, Global NMR Discussion Meetings will be hosting our second three-day online conference on Twitter with prizes available to all students and postdocs using magnetic resonance techniques (NMR and EPR etc.) to answer questions in biology, chemistry, materials science, physics, and more. This event is completelyfree of charge!
Participants will upload a short 2-minute video or a poster to present their work. Innovative formats of presentation and high quality of work will be recognized with prizes and opportunities to give a talk in the Global NMR Discussion Meetings. Creative, easy to understand presentations in the form of short, animated videos/GIFs are highly encouraged.
The titles and abstracts of registered participants will be made available here on our website, and will organized into subtopics, along with the links to the Twitter thread. Therefore, interested viewers will be able to find a video and the corresponding Twitter discussion thread that interests them. Audience will also be able to find posts related to the Twitter conference via the hashtag #GlobalnmrTC2023.

Each event focuses on a specific topic of current interest, pertaining either to a specific aspect of magnetic resonance methodology or to a specific area of application for magnetic resonance techniques. Three or four people with relevant research activities give short talks, and there is ample time for discussion among speakers and with on-line audience members.
