Tenure track position at University of Sheffield UK

The University of Sheffield is in the Russell Group of top research universities in the UK and is in the top 100 international universities in the world QS ranking.  We have 3 NMR spectrometers (Bruker 800 and 600 with cryoprobes, plus a 500), recently upgraded. There are two NMR-focused PIs, Mike Williamson and Jon Waltho, who work alongside colleagues in EM, crystallography, bioinformatics and a range of biomolecular sciences.

Sheffield is just over 2 hours from London and within easy reach of Manchester and Leeds. It borders the Peak District national park and is one of the cheapest and greenest of major UK cities.

The post. The School of Biosciences has around 125 academic staff, spanning a wide range including biochemistry, biophysics, microbiology, genetics, biomedical science, plant science, zoology, developmental biology, evolution and ecology. It is looking to support a suitable candidate in preparing a Research Fellowship case in solution state biological NMR. The School’s policy is that anyone with a research fellowship of 5 years or more is allocated a PhD student, is automatically on a tenure track, and would normally be expected to progress to a permanent lectureship post at the end of the fellowship, subject to the normal probation requirements. Seehttps://www.sheffield.ac.uk/science/research/fellowships for details. Interested candidates should send informal enquiries to Mike Williamson (m.williamson@sheffield.ac.uk) or Jon Waltho (j.waltho@sheffield.ac.uk).
