Three postdoctoral positions are open in the European Research Council (ERC) Starting Grant project “Chirality-sensitive Nuclear Magnetoelectric Resonance” (NMER) at the University of Warsaw, Poland.
The NMER project aims to lift the blindness of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy to molecular chirality by observation of chirality-sensitive magnetoelectric effects, which enables the identification of enantiomers directly without requiring chemical shift reagents or chiral solvents. Direct chiral NMR effects are very small and have not been previously detected; thus, the project will utilize several unique new strategies, such as hyperpolarization techniques and novel instrumentation, to dramatically enhance the chirality-sensitive NMR signals and then implement them in the several major areas of NMR spectroscopy.
